Day Surgery
Today, many surgical procedures which
once required hospitalization are performed as "Day
Surgeries". The patient pre-admits the day before
surgery, they return to the hospital and are discharged
the same afternoon. Not only is this more economical,
but it also allows the patient to recover in the comfort
of their own home. Procedures commonly performed are:
Cataract Removal, Tonsillectomy, Hernia Repair, Breast
Biopsy, Orthopedic, Podiatry, Oral, Bilateral Tubal
Ligation, and Urological. The Day Surgery
Department handles all pre-admits for inpatient
surgeries, and pre-admission on OB patients.
Emergency
Department
The Emergency Department at Memorial
Hospital, a designated Level IV Trauma Center, is

provide emergency care of all levels, within our
capabilities, to an average of 1400 patients per month.
Patients requiring immediate specialized care are
stabilized and transferred to a tertiary facility.

Obstetrics/Perinatal
Unit
The Women's Pavilion provides a
wonderfully progressive environment for the
arrival of the area's newest citizens. This
addition includes eight Labor-Delivery
Recovery-Postpartum (LDRP) Rooms that let new moms
experience the entire birthing process in one spacious,
home-like suite, as well as four post-partum rooms, and
a recovery room. There are two operating rooms
dedicated exclusively to obstetrical services.
Babies born in the Women's Pavilion
benefit from the extended care our upgraded Level II
nursery can provide. For the uncomplicated
delivery, rooming-in is offered, allowing mothers to
keep infants with them in their rooms, or exercising the
option of having our nurses maintain a watchful eye in
the nursery while the mothers rest. Fathers
are invited to visit at any time while other family
members and friends will enjoy generous visiting
hours. The comfortable, safe atmosphere of the
Women's Pavilion encourages family involvement at a time
which we believe, to be the most special of times.
